Step 1.Requirements

• Be a resident of California.

Step 2.Documents needed

• A photo ID.
• Proof of your current California address.

Step 3.Fill out the form for a temporary library card

Pre-register for a temporary library card

You will be given a library account with a temporary library card number. This account gives you access to limited online resources for a period of 30 days.

Step 4.Convert your temporary account to a permanent library card

You must provide in-person verification of being a California resident at the library. Be prepared to provide a photo ID and proof of your current California address when you arrive.
