Palo Alto Airport


The Palo Alto Airport (PAO) is a general aviation field, owned and operated by the City of Palo Alto. The Airport is a reliever to three Bay Area airports. PAO is the busiest single runway airport in California. The airport has one paved runway 13/31, measuring 2,443 × 70 feet. 

The terminal building is available to transient pilots and visitors. Wi-Fi, seating, and restrooms are available in the terminal. Parking for vehicles are available next to the terminal and is free for the first 8 hours.

Airport Staff perform all airport operations, tie-down services, facility and field maintenance. Please view the current Fee Schedule(PDF, 115KB) for tie-down and parking rates. If interested in tie-down availability, contact PAO staff directly at or call (650) 329-2444.

Existing airport tenants can update their account information by completing the Account Update Form.

The Air Traffic Control Tower is operated by the Federal Aviation Administration.



The City of Palo Alto hereby announces its proposed Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation goal of 5.4% for FAA-funded contracts/agreements. The proposed goal pertains to federal fiscal years 2022 through 2024.
