Flags in Palo Alto at Half-Staff in Honor of Utilities Worker Death

The flags at Palo Alto City Hall and other municipal buildings in Palo Alto are being flown at half-staff following a work-site incident on Saturday, Nov. 16, where an employee was injured and later passed away from his injuries.

On Sunday, the City announced the name of the Utilities Department employee, Donatus Okhomina, a veteran of the United States Air Force and a seasoned electrical lineman.

Okhomina joined the City of Palo Alto this month as a utility line person. After serving in the United States Air Force, Okhomina’s work experience included roles with both Pacific Gas & Electric and Sacramento Municipal Utility District.

Okhomina was 42 years of age and is survived by his wife and four daughters with the ages of 17, 14, 11, and six. A GoFundMe account to support Okhomina’s family during this difficult time has been established and can be found here, https://bit.ly/2QrSuzP
