Heat Advisory Issued Through Thursday
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Santa Clara County and most of the Bay Area for Wednesday, August 14 through 8 p.m. Thursday, August 15. Above normal temperatures in the 90's are expected in our local area, and up in the 100's for southern and inland areas.
During this Heat Advisory period, the public should limit outdoor activities during the hottest times of the day, stay in cool areas, and drink plenty of water. Pay particular attention to young children, the elderly, and pets as they are at a higher risk.
VTA will be offering free rides to cooling centers along VTA routes on Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on VTA bus and light rail. Those needing access to cooling centers should simply tell the bus driver or fare inspector that you are on your way to a cooling center and you will be able to ride for free.
