Celebrate the Completion of Upgrade Downtown
Join us for a "grand reopening" of University Avenue now that the Upgrade Downtown construction project is complete.
Upgrade Downtown was a multi-phase capital project that included the installation of water and gas pipelines, telecommunication and fiber optic conduits, traffic signals, accessible pedestrian signals (APS), street lights, sidewalk extensions, ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, new space for bike parking, and the repaving of University Avenue. The project began in Spring 2018 and took a little over a year to complete. The project aimed to address recurring maintenance issues, enhance the reliability of the distribution systems, and increase the availability of fiber optic and telecommunication conduit.
To thank the community and local businesses for their patience during the process, the City is hosting a Community Appreciations event on Tuesday, June 11 from 3-5 p.m. in Lytton Plaza. There will be music, refreshments and acknowledgments from Mayor Eric Filseth and City Manager Ed Shikada.
