Council Adopts FY 19 Budget
The Council voted to approve the City’s FY 19 budget totaling $709.9 million at their meeting on June 18, and also directed staff to return at some point in the future with options for $4 million in unidentified cuts. The Council took the action as part of recommendations from the Finance Committee to focus on the City’s unfunded pension liability. The FY 19 budget includes the General Fund of $210.7 million and net reductions of 6.60 full-time positions. When combined with the 11.00 reduction in the Fire Department already approved by the City Council, citywide staffing has decreased 17.60 positions or 1.7 percent from FY 2018 (a 3 percent reduction in General Fund staffing).
