Sign-up to Use the Library’s New, Interactive Search Tool
The Palo Alto City Library has unveiled a robust, new interactive search tool to replace its current library catalog. During this soft launch period that runs until Monday, Jan. 23 the public is invited to sign-up, try it out and share their feedback.
The new, mobile-friendly catalog produced by BiblioCommons provides rich recommendations and enables customers to virtually connect with librarians and other members of the community. It allows the user community to create and share lists with each other about books, movies, and music. By following the librarians too, you can see their recommendations. The big bonus is it makes it much easier to carry out typical interactions customers have with a library catalog, such as exploring what-is-new in my local branch, titles-to-read-next, tracking holds and renewals.
While the Library encourages customers to share their comments, reviews and lists, customers can opt to keep their activities from being shared on the social network if they choose. BiblioCommons has satisfied the Library's expectations for protecting customer data.
Customers who have already signed-up for the new catalog service are weighing in:
“The new search site exceeds my expectations.”
“It’s a major improvement over the last Palo Alto Library catalog.”
Check it out for yourself. You can go online and sign-up to register from home, or make an appointment here to get assistance. You are encouraged to sign-up before the official launch on Monday, Jan. 23 when the library may be inundated with new sign-ups.
