Is your business or organization interested in solar PV or solar water heating? Start here.

The City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) is a trusted, unbiased source of information for commercial customers looking to learn more or install a solar photovoltaic (PV) system and/or a solar water heating system. Read on to learn how CPAU can help your business take advantage of solar energy.

SOLAR PV SYSTEMS

Solar photovoltaic (PV) or solar electric systems convert sunlight into electricity for your building. Whether you are just starting to consider solar PV, are an existing solar customer or are a contractor working with a Palo Alto business, we have the resources for you.

FEED-IN TARIFF PROGRAM - CLEAN

Palo Alto CLEAN (Clean Local Energy Accessible Now) is a program to purchase electricity generated by renewable energy generation systems located in CPAU’s service territory, which coincides with the city boundaries. Programs like this, known in the industry as "feed-in tariff" programs, involve a utility paying a fixed price (tariff) for the power that is "fed into" their electric grid from local generation systems. Visit our Palo Alto CLEAN webpage for more information.

SOLAR WATER HEATING SYSTEMS

Solar water heating (SWH) systems use the sun's energy to heat water for your use. Typically, these systems include solar collectors and storage tanks, which provide cost and energy efficient hot water. CPAU offers commercial customers rebates for SWH systems of various types and sizes.
