The City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) offers payment plans and other assistance for people experiencing unexpected financial hardships. If you are a federal government employee or contractor impacted by the partial federal government shutdown, please contact us. CPAU can arrange a payment plan and defer utility service disconnections.

CPAU provides assistance to customers experiencing financial challenges due to the unexpected loss of work or medical expenses.

If you are on a limited or fixed income, experiencing financial hardship, or have medical needs that increase your utility usage, you may be eligible for help with utility bill costs. CPAU can offer a 25% discount on gas and electricity charges through our Rate Assistance Program.
