City Open House Takes Community Behind the Scenes

Back by popular demand – the City of Palo Alto's Municipal Service Center Open House!   

The City of Palo Alto is hosting an Open House to showcase some of the “behind the scenes” work that we do for the Palo Alto community. Please join us and bring the family for a fun and educational day. Food, entertainment, hands-on activities, demonstrations and games that are sure to please people of all ages!

The City encourages participants to bike, walk or carpool if possible. As this is a Zero Waste event, please bring your own refillable water bottle.

Event Activities Include: Special hands-on demonstrations and displays from Police, Fire, Emergency Services, Public Works, Utilities, Community Services and Administration Departments of the City. Learn about electric safety, water, wastewater and gas operations, what's in the ground, how the City operates its own utilities, where our utilities come from, and how meters work. Other topics include facilities systems, EcoHome and efficiency programs, cybersecurity, bucket trucks and other heavy equipment operation, street cutting and paving, parks and open space care, zero waste, watershed protection, public safety, and a historical look at the City and the founding of our municipal utilities. In addition, meet with special guest Sequoia, a bald eagle from the Junior Museum.
