National Recognition for Palo Alto Green Power Achievements

The City of Palo Alto has once again received national recognition for the success of its programs and policies
to encourage the use of renewable electric power.

Described below is an "electric trifecta" of recent achievements. Palo Altans can be justifiably proud!

Congratulations go to the forward-looking residents and businesses in Palo Alto whose support and participation made these achievements possible!

PaloAltoGREEN.  Palo Alto ranked #1 in the country for the participation rate of its PaloAltoGreen program.  
Ranking assessed by the federal Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)  

  • Palo Alto is also #3 in the nation in terms of renewable electricity use as a percent of total electric use. (NREL report omitted Palo Alto in this category due to clerical error.)
  • PaloAltoGreen has had participation levels hovering around 20% since 2008, making it consistently the national leader among renewable energy purchase option programs.

SOLAR SYSTEMS PER CAPITA. Palo Alto was ranked in the Top 10 nationally--- for the 6th year in a row!
