Residential Two-Cart Collection Pilot Project
Approximately 50% of residential 'garbage' is comprised of food scraps and food-soiled paper. Composting this material can help our community achieve its goals of Zero Waste and Climate Protection.
The one year pilot project provides participants with collection service for food scraps and food soiled paper. It also reconfigures how recyclables and garbage are collected in an effort to simplify sorting, offset the costs of the new service and reduce truck trips. The pilot project will evaluate the new service and collection system using the following metrics: cost, convenience, diversion rate from landfills, quality of materials and truck trip reductions.
