Utility Capital Improvement Projects

Utilities Coordination

The Public Works Department hosts a monthly coordination meeting with all divisions of the Utilities Department and the Transportation Division. At this meeting each group presents and discusses their upcoming and projected plans. The purpose of this meeting is to coordinate all of the projects so that newly paved streets don’t get cut into for a minimum of 5 years. Aside from these meetings, City staff inputs their planned projects into our GIS based Project Coordinator program to check for conflicts.

Unfortunately streets do sometimes get cut into shortly after paving. This can happen if there is an emergency water or gas leak, or if a private development needs to upgrade their utility services as part of their project.
