Midtown Connector Project
The Midtown Connector Project was identified in the City’s 2012 Bicycle + Pedestrian Transportation Plan to create a much needed east/west bicycle and pedestrian route along the Matadero Creek channel between Highway 101 and Alma Street. The City and Stanford University were awarded $1.5 million from Santa Clara County for an off-street route that would be comfortable for users of all ages and abilities, and provide additional recreation space.
In 2013, the City launched a community engagement process which included a Citizen’s Advisory Committee to help guide the process. The City hired Alta Planning + Design to study the feasibility of a shared-use path along Matadero Creek in addition to
City Council approved the feasibility study in June 2016 and directed staff to study an alternative alignment along Loma Verde Avenue as an alternative, described on page 26 of the study.
Staff will prepare concept plans for a potential route along Loma Verde Ave and return to Council.
