2014 Contract Negotiations
The City’s contract with the Palo Alto Peace Officers’ Association expired on June 30, 2014. The parties have been meeting since early May 2014 to bargain over a successor agreement and continue to meet as of August 2014. The previous contract is available to review HERE.
In 2012, the City and PAPOA reached agreement on all contract terms except proposed revisions to retiree medical for future retirees. The parties agreed that PAPOA could opt to proceed through the impasse and factfinding process only on the single issue of retiree medical, while proceeding with approval of the remaining portions of the contract. PAPOA chose to proceed with factfinding on this issue and a two day factfinding hearing was held pursuant to the provisions of state law in July 2012. Following the hearing, the factfinding panel requested additional information, which was developed throughout 2013. On July 22, 2014, the City received the panel’s final recommendation, recommending the City’s proposal. The panel’s final report and the parties’ briefs to the panel are available by clicking on the links below. The City will be evaluating action on the report in August 2014.
