PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST
Many records are available online. The Clerk’s Office has online records of ordinances and resolutions, as well as agendas and minutes of City Council and commission meetings. Many Planning, Building, and Public Works records are located online at the City’s online permitting portal. The City also has an Open Data Portal with several searchable databases.
If you cannot find a document online, Public Records Requests can be submitted electronically at the City’s online Public Records Request portal. The portal allows you to submit a request online, and the relevant City department(s) will respond with an initial determination as to whether the City has any disclosable documents. The City will then disclose documents after being reviewed for exemptions underthe California Public Records Act at Gov. Code 6250 et seq. and other laws that govern the public release of the City’s documents.
Police reports can be requested from the Palo Alto Police Department.
