|College Terrace Library renovations are complete! |
College Terrace Library reopened Tuesday, November 9, 2010.
This neighborhood library closed in the summer of 2009 for 12-14 months to complete the extensive renovation project. This project is funded by the City, not by Measure N.
|The College Terrace Library was built in 1936 and is housed in a building of approximately 4,860 square feet. Designed by local architect, Charles K. Sumner, the building also houses a day care center operated by Palo Alto Community Child Care. In April 2008, the City Council approved reclassification of the building from a Category 4 to a Category 2 structure in the City’s historical building inventory. |
Features of the renovation:
- Seismic reinforcement
- Accessibility upgrades
- New electrical and mechanical systems
- Addition of air conditioning
- New roof
- Improved lighting
- New paint and carpet
- Minor changes to the interior layout of the library
