Construction Worker Falls into Trench
Contact : Doug Conn, Battalion Chief, Fire Department    650-329-2615
Palo Alto, CA - At 5:44 this evening, Palo Alto Fire crews were dispatched to Roth Way and Campus Ave., on the Stanford Campus, for a Construction worker who fell approximately 14 feet into an open construction trench.

The first arriving engine discovered a construction worker that had fallen into an open trench.  After appropriate safety measures were installed, Fire crews and Paramedics descended into the trench to provide medical aide. They then packaged the patient in a "Stokes" basket, so he could be lifted safely out of the trench with ropes and pulleys.

The Rescue assignment consisted of E6, E1, T6, M1, and B6. The Palo Alto Police department and the Stanford Department of Public Safety assisted with traffic control in the area. The construction worker was transported by Palo Alto Paramedics to a local hospital for treatment.
