Palo Alto, CA -- Police have arrested a former hospital technician for sexually battering a patient.

In late February 2013, the victim (a woman in her forties) reported to detectives that during a brief stay as a patient in the Clinical Decision Unit of Stanford Hospital at 300 Pasteur Drive earlier that month, a hospital employee had inappropriately touched her genitals and breasts on at least two occasions while she had been semi-sedated by medication.  The suspect and victim were not known to each other prior to the crimes.  Detectives worked collaboratively with the administration of Stanford Hospital and Clinics to identify the suspect as 35-year-old David Ira Bradford of Fremont, a "hospital technician."

At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives presented the case to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, who filed charges against the suspect.  On Sunday, September 8, 2013, at about 9:01 p.m., officers arrested the suspect without incident in the 34000 block of Calcutta Drive in Fremont.  Officers booked the suspect at the Santa Clara County Main Jail pursuant to an arrest warrant charging him with sexual battery by fraud (a felony), sexual battery of a hospitalized victim (a felony), and sexual battery (a misdemeanor).  A booking photo of the suspect is attached to this release.

At this time, detectives are not aware of any additional victims.  Anyone who may have information about this suspect is asked to call our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.  Anonymous tips can be e-mailed to or sent via text message or voice mail to 650-383-8984.
