Palo Alto, CA -- An unknown suspect armed with a handgun and wearing a ski mask robbed the 7-Eleven convenience store in midtown Palo Alto overnight.  No one was injured and the suspect is at large.

On Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at about 12:08 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call from the clerk of the 7-Eleven convenience store at 708 Colorado Avenue reporting the store had just been robbed at gunpoint.  Officers arrived on scene shortly thereafter, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store, pointed a handgun at the clerk, and demanded money.  The victim clerk, a male in his twenties, complied with the suspect's demands and handed over money from the register.  The suspect then ran out of the store, and the clerk last saw him running eastbound on Colorado Avenue.  There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery.

The victim described the suspect as an unknown race male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with a red T-shirt over it, black pants, black shoes, and black gloves.  The suspect was wearing a black ski mask that obscured his face, so no sketch will be forthcoming.  The victim described the handgun as a black semi-automatic pistol.  Two surveillance photos of the suspect are attached to this release.

Detectives from the Palo Alto Police Department are actively investigating this robbery.  Anyone with information is asked to call our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.  Anonymous tips can be e-mailed to or sent via text message or voice mail to 650-383-8984.
