Palo Alto, CA – On June 9, at 9:38 AM, Palo Alto Fire crews and Park Rangers were dispatched to a call in Foothill Park for a 60-year-old female hiker that had fallen down a cliff 15 feet into a creek bed. She had been hiking on Los Trancos trail when she slipped and fell into the creek while ascending a steep portion of the trail. A passing hiker heard her calls for help and was able to call 911 on their cell phone.

The Palo Alto Fire Department and Foothill Park Rangers arrived at the park around 10 AM and began their search. They located the patient on the trail and extricated her out of the creek bed. She was then carried out in a Stokes basket 1.5 miles to waiting Palo Alto Paramedics for transport to a local hospital. Her injuries were non-life threatening, with a possible fractured ankle.

The Emergency response consisted of E2, R2, M2, Foothill Park Patrols 1 and 2.
