Twilight Concerts are Back!

Palo Alto, CA – Palo Alto’s popular Twilight Summer Concert Series hopes to kick off on Saturday, June 29 in Rinconada Park with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West – Mobility.

Children’s Theater Artistic Director Judge Luckey is quick to point out that this year’s concert series celebrates the diversity of musical programming throughout the Bay Area. “This summer brings everything from The Groove Kings, a Beatles tribute band, to the Dave Rocha Jazz Group,” reports Luckey. “With Dr. Noize, for kids young and old, and the bluesy Foxtail Brigade, there’s something for everyone.”  As in previous years, the concert will close with Teens on the Green, which brings a variety of teen bands.

The first date of the summer remains uncertain, as the appearance of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West is threatened by the  sequester. “We’re hoping the “The Air Force Band” can make it,” Luckey noted. “Everyone loves them, especially our veterans.”

Concert time is 7 PM on Saturday evenings. The summer’s line up is:
  • June 29, Rinconada Park: United States Air Force Band of the Golden West – Mobility.  Patriotic rock, jazz, and blues favorites (tentative).
  • July 13, Rinconada Park: Foxtails Brigade. Chamber-pop music, and Nancy Cassidy.
  • July 20, 300 block of S. California Avenue: The Groove Kings.  Rock ‘n’ roll and classic R&B.
  • July 27, Mitchell Park: Dave Rocha Jazz Group, jazz ensemble.
  • August 3, Mitchell Park: Dr. Noize, Children's interactive pop/rock adventures.
  • August 10, Mitchell Park: Teens on the Green.  Original songs by local teen bands.
