City of Palo Alto Celebrates Building Safety Month

Palo Alto, California – The City of Palo Alto is hosting a variety of informative events during the month of May to celebrate Building Safety Month and invites residents to join in the celebration.

"The Development Services Department is committed to promoting safe and green buildings to ensure public welfare as well as the advancement of sustainable building practices," said Director Peter Pirnejad.  “We invite the Palo Alto community to join in the celebration.”

Building Safety Month events include: 

May 2 EcoHome Tour
Time: 3  – 6 p.m.
Location:  1120 Hopkins Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94301; located next to the Girl Scout House, behind the Lucie Stern Community Center.
Fee:  None

May 22 Fire Safety and Disaster Mitigation
Time: 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Location: City Hall Council Chambers
Fee: None

May 31 Backyard & Pool Safety
Time: 1 – 2:30 p.m. 
Location: City Hall Council Chambers
Fee: None

Put your business card in the vase at the Development Center and win a gift basket full of safety merchandise. Entry dates are May 25 – May 31. The drawing will take place at the end of the last day. No need to be present to win.

The Development Services Department oversees all development review, permitting, and inspection services in collaboration with the Building, Planning, Utilities, Public Works, and Fire Prevention Bureau to ensure all new construction complies with local and state codes.
