Contact : Steve Banks, Manager Maintenance Operations, Public Works    (650) 496-5932

Palo Alto, CA - The City of Palo Alto is conducting a pilot project to test every-other-week street sweeping service during the non-leaf season months of March through September. Weekly street sweeping service will continue during the leaf season months (October through February). The pilot will evaluate whether the City can save costs by reducing sweeping frequency without significantly impacting residents or the environment.

Pilot areas were chosen from current street sweeping routes and are located in different areas of the City to  better understand the impacts of the service changes. The downtown areas of University and California Avenue and the surrounding streets are not included in this pilot project and are not being considered for future street sweeping reductions. The parking districts have different street sweeping schedules and rates.

The pilot will start in mid- May and run through the end of September. A map of the pilot areas and a calendar highlighting street sweeping weeks is available online at For questions, call (650) 496-6974.
