Contact : Battalion Chief Doug Conn, Fire Department    650-329-2615
Palo Alto, CA -- At 12:29 today, Palo Alto Fire crews were dispatched to a construction site at 4041 El Camino Way where a 33 year old male construction worker had fallen approximately 12 feet to the second story deck from the building framing. The first and second stories consisted of framing only and there were no stairs in place. The patient sustained a left leg injury from the fall.

The patient was awake and spoke with firefighters when they arrived. His medical needs were attended to by Palo Alto firefighters and medics. He was treated and secured in a Stokes basket, which was then lowered to the ground with a combination of rope rigging and T6 boom movement.

From the first engine's arrival until the patient was delivered to medics on the ground a total of 49 minutes elapsed. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further treatment and care.

The rescue response team consisted of E5, E4, T6, R2, M2, and B6. Crew members T6 and R2 worked as a Rescue team to prepare the necessary rigging, while E5 and M2 handled patient care.
