Palo Alto, CA -- Police have arrested a suspect for the armed robbery and sexual assault that occurred inside a room at the Glass Slipper Inn earlier this month.

On the evening of Saturday, March 9, 2013, an unknown suspect contacted the female victim after finding her advertisement for massages on an online service and calling her to arrange for a meeting in a specific room at the Glass Slipper Inn at 3941 El Camino Real.  Once inside the hotel room with the woman, the man immediately produced a knife and ordered the victim to give him all of her money.  After she complied, he ordered her to participate in a sex act with him.

After the sexual assault, the suspect left the hotel room and immediately encountered an associate of the victim sitting on a chair nearby.  He brandished the knife at that woman and demanded money from her as well.  She had no money to give him, and he left on foot.

Detectives immediately began investigating the case, and were able to identify the suspect as 44-year-old David Yi of San Jose.  Yi had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest (one for assault with a deadly weapon out of San Jose, and the other for a probation violation out of Santa Clara County).  Yi is on active probation in Santa Clara County stemming from a prior conviction for possession of methamphetamine and being under the influence of narcotics.

On Friday, March 15, 2013, at about 10 a.m., detectives from the Palo Alto Police Department located Yi in the 3300 block of Cropley Avenue in San Jose and arrested him pursuant to the two warrants.  Police booked him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.  A booking photo of Yi is attached to this release.  A surveillance photo from the night of the crime is attached as well.

Following the arrest, detectives worked with the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office and obtained a felony arrest warrant charging Yi with robbery, attempted robbery, and forcible oral copulation.  Detectives served the warrant on Yi on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, while he was still in custody.
