Palo Alto, CA – The Palo Alto City Library is delighted to announce the launch of its latest digital service, Author Alerts. Customers can now get notified immediately by email or text message when books by their favorite authors, audiobooks read by their favorite narrators, music by their favorite performers, and DVDs by their favorite actors and directors are added into the library catalog.
With Author Alerts, customers first simply create a profile with either an email address or cell phone number. Then they add their favorite authors or performers to that profile. When the library orders anything by that author or performer, the customer automatically receives an alert via email or text message. Alerts include a link to the item in the catalog so the customer can place a request immediately.
Author Alerts’ push technology means customers never miss the latest books, music or movies of interest because the timeliest catalog information will come directly to them in their preferred notification format. Customers will also enjoy discovering new authors and performers that others in our community love through Author Alerts’ optional social sharing features.
Library Director Monique le Conge remarks, “We’re so pleased to provide another new digital service connecting our customers with the library collection through today’s preferred communication technologies. Now the items you most want in the library collection appear in your email or text messages right when it’s most relevant so you don’t miss the newest releases of your favorite authors or performers.”
