Palo Alto, CA – Palo Alto City Library announces the addition of Axis 360 digital media library of eBooks to the collection of digital materials available to library cardholders. Axis 360, provided by Baker & Taylor, is a digital media platform that enables libraries and their customers to access enhanced digital content using Blio, the ground-breaking free eReading software.
The addition of this new digital library efficiently expands the library’s eBook collection. Library Director Monique le Conge remarks, "In the last fiscal year alone, library eBook checkouts grew by 54%. We’re pleased to meet the ever-growing demand for digital collections by adding Axis 360 into our services to provide the materials our customers want in the formats they prefer, from the printed page to the touchscreen."
The new digital library makes it easy for cardholders to checkout and download library eBooks for reading on multiple popular devices including iPads, iPhones, Android smartphones and tablets, and PCs, using free Blio eReading software. Blio offers a full-color eReading experience and makes the eBook collection accessible to visually impaired readers through text-to-speech options and full compatibility with the leading assistive screen-reader technologies. Users of Macs and most popular eReaders, including the Nook, can also enjoy library eBooks from the Axis 360 collection in standard formats compatible with the free Adobe Digital Editions eReading software.
