Vehicle Accident on Hanover at Page Mill 9/24/12

Monday, September 24, at 12:00 p.m., the Palo Alto Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle accident at the intersection of Hanover St. and Page Mill Rd. There were three vehicles were involved with one person trapped inside of his vehicle. Personnel at Station 2 near the intersection were alerted by citizens that came to the door of the station.

Rescue 2 was the first to arrive and determined the need for additional resources after viewing one person trapped. A "Rescue Response" was dispatched.  The response included Palo Alto Fire Engines 2, 6, Rescue-2, Truck-6, Medics, and the Battalion Chief -6.

A 60's year old male was trapped inside his vehicle after being struck by another vehicle at a high rate of speed. Due to the damage to his vehicle, Palo Alto units were prolonged in the extrication. He was transported to Stanford University Hospital Code 3 for treatment. 

No fire personnel were injured during the operation; however one Palo Alto Police Officer received on-scene treatment and was transported to Stanford Hospital complaining of glass in his eye.
