Work on Phase II of the San Antonio Road Median Improvement Project Continues

Palo Alto, CA
– On August 13, construction will begin on additional road and median improvements at the intersection of San Antonio Road and Middlefield Road as part of road work included in Phase II of the San Antonio Road Median Improvement Project. To minimize disruption during commute hours, all traffic lanes will remain open until 9 AM and reopen again by 4 PM.

This phase of the construction will include widening southbound San Antonio Road in order to add an additional left turn lane onto Middlefield Road. After the road is widened and road base repairs are completed, the existing street will be ground down and repaved with new asphalt. The final striping will be installed seven to ten days after paving.

After the road rehabilitation is completed, the irrigation system, new trees and landscaping will be installed.

This project replaces aging infrastructure along San Antonio in the median island and the sidewalk planting strips. Construction began in November 2011 and will last approximately one year. The limits of work are from Highway 101 to Middlefield Road.
