Palo Alto, CA -- On Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:05 AM, a robbery occurred in the 500 block of South California Avenue. The female victim, who is an employee of McDonald's, was in the process of taking a large cash deposit from the business to the bank. As the victim neared the bank, a male suspect later identified as 20 year old Ismael Aquino-Flores, of Redwood City, approached the victim and forcefully removed her purse which contained several thousand dollars. The suspect fled to a waiting green Honda Accord, which then sped away. A silver Honda also waiting nearby was associated with the robbery (according to a witness at the scene).

Palo Alto Police were called and officers flooded the area looking for the vehicles and suspects. A detective working undercover responded to the area and observed the two vehicles on Churchill Avenue. She followed the two suspect vehicles until additional police units arrived. The two suspect vehicles, attempting to evade the police split up. The silver Honda Civic was stopped at Greer Road and Tulip Lane where Fabian Delgadillo, a 21 year old from Redwood City, was taken into custody. The green Honda Accord was stopped in the 500 block of Coleridge Avenue and the passenger, Ismael Aquino-Flores, was taken into custody. The driver of the silver Honda, Gerardo Yepez Soto, a 21 year old from Redwood City, fled on foot through residential back yards. Police set up a perimeter and the California Highway Patrol assisted with a helicopter; however, Yepez Soto was able to escape.

Through investigation, detectives discovered that the three suspects acted together to carry out the robbery. Soto worked with the victim at McDonald’s and had knowledge regarding when and where cash deposits were to be made.

All of the stolen property has been recovered and returned to the victim. Ismael Aquino-Flores and Fabian Delgadillo were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on one count each of  Conspiracy, and Robbery.

Suspect Gerardo Yepez Soto (see attached photo) is still outstanding and wanted by police. Anyone with information about his location is encouraged to call the Palo Alto Police Department at (650) 329-2413. Anonymous tips can be emailed to @tmailto:paloalto@tipnow.org, or anonymous voicemails and text messages can be sent to (650) 383-8984.

There will be no further information released about this incident at this time, as it is actively under investigation.
