Palo Alto, CA – The Palo Alto Fire Department responded to a medical aid call in the 3500 block of Ross Road.  A 20 year old male was in cardiac arrest with CPR in progress by his father. The son had been doing some landscaping and collapsed in the driveway. Palo Alto police arrived and took over from the father to administer CPR. The Fire Department's Engine 3 responded from the Embarcadero station with Medic 2. Advanced Life Support was initiated and pulses returned. The son was then transported to a local hospital. The Palo Alto Fire Department concluded that the immediate CPR done by his father created a positive outcome for his son. When CPR is administered immediately by trained bystanders, this can and has saved lives.
