Brush Fire on May 27, 2011

Palo Alto – On Friday May 27 at 4:37 p.m., the Palo Alto Fire Department responded to a brush fire between the rear of Gunn High School and the Reservoir adjacent to Bol Park. PAFD Engine 5 arrived on scene and reported that the fire was located in 10 x 50 area within a eucalyptus grove. Fire had traveled up into the branches of several trees leaving them scorched. 

It was reported that three persons were seen running from the area by the first arriving engine; a fire investigator was on scene to assist in determining the cause. The fire was extinguished and overhauled within approximately 30 minutes of arrival. Responding units used Class A foam and hand tools to put a line around the burned area.

The response included Palo Alto Fire Engines 5, 2, 9, patrol 2 and 6, Medic 1 and the Battalion Chief.
