Palo Alto, CA – Recent Disasters have shown us that you need at least one week's worth of water, food and supplies for yourself, your family and pets. Take a step forward in being prepared by visiting the Palo Alto/Stanford Citizen Corps Council Emergency Preparedness Safety Faire on May 1 from noon – 4 p.m., at the Stanford Shopping Center.

"Although we can’t predict when or where the next disaster will occur, we do know that you and your family will fare much better if you are prepared months in advance rather than just one minute too late," said Annette Glanckopf, event co-chair. “Resolve now to be ready for the Big One.“

Is your family ready to survive on its own without external services? Join us at this free, fun and educational event and take time now to get your family ready:

  • Visit over 30 booths of experts who have information on what you need to be prepared.
  • Learn how to make a kit for emergencies – for your home, car and office.
  • Get the information you need to create a family emergency plan.
  • Learn how to prepare yourself and your family in advance for any disruptive event that could happen such as natural disasters, crime waves, terrorism or pandemics.

At this free Emergency Preparedness Safety Faire, you will have access to emergency response vehicles, safety demonstrations, activities for children and exhibitor booths. Experts will show you how to use a fire extinguisher, build an emergency kit and build a family plan. And, emergency supplies will be available for purchase. Several food vendors from the Shopping Center will be set up to sell cupcakes, frozen yoghurt, and pizza

Free gifts will be provided to the first 300 families to arrive. Raffles and presentation are scheduled hourly. For more information, print out the event flyer or visit
