Palo Alto, CA -- On Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 7:04 PM, a woman was robbed of her purse in front of her home in the 900 block of El Cajon Way. The victim had parked her car in her driveway and as she approached her front door she heard footsteps behind her. The suspect grabbed her from behind, took her purse and fled the area.

Through extensive investigation and a parole search, Dean Allen Holmes Jr. , 23, of San Jose was identified as the suspect involved in this particular crime. Holmes was arrested after an iPod purchased with the victim's stolen credit card was located in his home. Holmes was arrested and booked at the main jail on January 19, 2011, on charges of parole violation with recommended charges of two counts of robbery, burglary and illegal use of a stolen credit card.

During this same investigation, information was discovered that Holmes may have been involved in an additional robbery that occurred on Monday, January 10, 2011, at 9:15 PM, in the 4000 block of Ben Lomond Drive. When the male victim, a local pizza delivery driver, was returning to his parked vehicle, he was approached by a lone suspect and robbed of his property at gun point. The victim was not harmed during the robbery.

As part of the investigation, a photo lineup was shown to this victim and he positively identified Dean Allen Holmes Jr., as the suspect who robbed him at gun point. Holmes was charged with an additional count of Robbery for this crime.
