Pizza Delivery Driver Robbed

Palo Alto, Ca -- On Monday, January 10, 2011, at 9:15 PM., Palo Alto Police received a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred in the 4000 block of Ben Lomond Drive. The male victim, a local pizza delivery driver, was returning to his parked vehicle when he was approached by a lone suspect who pointed a handgun at him and demanded property, which the victim handed over. The victim was not harmed during the robbery.

After the robbery, the suspect ran away towards Scripps Avenue.  No vehicle was seen. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20's, 6 feet tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

A short time after the robbery, Palo Alto Police detained a male who matched the description of the robber. The subject was taken to the police station for investigation.  After further investigation, police determined he was not connected to the robbery and subsequently released him without charges.

The Palo Alto Police Department would like to remind community members to be aware of their surroundings at all times, especially during the evening hours. Please report any suspicious activity to the Police Department as soon as possible.

The Palo Alto Police Department is actively investigating this crime. This incident may or may not be connected to other recent robberies in the area.
