Armed Robbery

Palo Alto, Ca -- On Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 12:24 AM, Palo Alto Police received a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred in the 2300 block of St. Francis Drive. The female victim had just parked her car in her driveway on St. Francis Drive, near Oregon Avenue. As the victim retrieved items from her car, a male approached her, pointed a handgun at her and demanded her property. The victim handed over her purse. The victim who is a Palo Alto resident, was not harmed during the robbery.  

After the robbery, the suspect ran south on St. Francis Drive towards Oregon Avenue. The victim noticed an unknown-color sedan with its motor running parked several houses away' it not konwn whether this vehicle is associated with the robbery.

The suspect was described as a black male adult 18-20 years old, tall with a medium build, and no facial hair. The suspect was wearing a flat-brimmed baseball cap, a grey hooded sweatshirt, and baggy jeans.

The Palo Alto Police Department would like to remind community members to be aware of their surroundings at all times, especially during the evening hours. Please report any suspicious activity to the Police Department as soon as possible.

The Palo Alto Police Department is actively investigating this crime. This incident may or may not be connected to other recent robberies in the area.
