Armed Robbery in Front of Residence

Palo Alto, CA -- On Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 8:59 PM, Palo Alto Police received the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred in the 400 block of Marion Avenue. The two victims had just arrived home and pulled into a residential driveway on Marion Avenue near Waverley Street. As the victims sat in the vehicle, a male suspect approached and pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded property.  The victims handed over a wallet, cash, and credit cards. The victims were not harmed during the robbery. One victim lives in Palo Alto and the other lives in a neighboring city.

After the robbery, the suspect got into a vehicle that was waiting at the corner of Waverley Street and Marion Avenue. The vehicle fled north on Waverley Street towards Oregon Expressway. The vehicle was described as a white, older, 4-door, Honda Accord.

The suspect was described as a black male adult in his 20's, tall and thin, with short hair. The suspect was wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.

The Palo Alto Police Department would like to caution community members to be aware of their surroundings at all times, especially during the evening hours. Please report any suspicious activity to the Police Department without delay.

The Palo Alto Police Department is actively investigating this crime. This incident may or may not be connected to other recent robberies in the area.
