Palo Alto, CA – On Thursday, November 25, 2010 at 12:30 AM, the Palo Alto Police Department responded to the 100 block of Alma Street on the report of an attempted sexual assault. The victim, after a night out with friends and having pizza, walked north on Alma Street towards El Camino Real to meet her mom. While walking, the victim was pushed to the ground from behind by an unknown suspect. The victim screamed while the suspect tried to remove her pants. The victim was able to fight off the suspect who then fled north on Alma Street along the railroad tracks, possibly through El Palo Alto Park. The victim was able to run towards El Camino Real where she was found by her mother.

The suspect was described as a white male adult in his late twenties or early thirties, about 6'1" tall, weighing around 175 pounds. The suspect had short dark hair and a well-groomed goatee. He was last seen wearing a plain white tee shirt and blue jeans (click here to view a copy of this press release with that includes a sketch of the suspect).

The Palo Alto Police Department encourages citizens to be aware of their surroundings at all times. When participating in evening festivities, stay together, do not walk alone down dark streets, and have rides meet you in well-lit and crowded areas.
