Palo Alto City Library Announces 3rd Annual Writing Contest

Palo Alto, CA -- The Palo Alto City Library announces its 3rd Annual Writing Contest for kids and teens. Children from grades 2-5 and teens in grades 6-12 will write an essay no more than 500 words in length on the topic, "What makes you happy?" Entries may be turned in to any library branch or emailed to or Submissions must be received no later than Monday, January 10, 2011 by 9 p.m.

Both children and teens are eligible to win 1st place grand prizes of $25 gift certificates to Books Inc. The essays will be judged on concept and creativity.
Additionally, children will receive a California Pizza Kitchen gift certificate good for one pizza, drink, and dessert and teens will get a Culture Organic Frozen Yogurt gift certificate for one small yogurt with a free topping.

The winners will be announced at the following receptions held for all writers.

Kids (Grades 2-5)
Wednesday, January 26 at 3:30 p.m.
Children’s Library, 1276 Harriet St., Palo Alto

Teens (Grades 6-12)
Monday, February 7 at 4:15 p.m.
Main Library, 1213 Newell Road, Palo Alto
