Attempted Robbery at Midtown Convenience Store

Palo Alto, CA -- On Sunday, November 14, 2010, at 4:28 AM, Palo Alto Police responded to the 7-11 convenience store located at 708 Colorado Avenue on the report that an unknown suspect had just entered the store and pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk offered the cash to the suspect who grabbed a female customer and demanded the money again. The clerk continued to offer the money, the suspect hesitated then fled the store, running east on Colorado Avenue. 

Palo Alto Police units responded to the area and requested a canine unit from the Mountain View Police Department. Upon their arrival, they attempted to establish a track of the robber's direction of travel with negative results.

The suspect was described as a back male adult in his early twenties about 6’0 tall and weighing around 180 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a white hooded sweat shirt pulled up over his face and a pair of black jeans.

Neither the clerk nor the customer was injured during the robbery attempt.  The suspect fled the store and took nothing with him.

It is obvious that robberies can occur anywhere. If you find yourself the unfortunate victim of a robbery, please cooperate with the suspect’s demands.
