Robbery Suspect Arrested
Contact : Lieutenant Sandra Brown, Palo Alto Police Department    650-704-2930
Palo Alto, CA -- On Friday, November 5, 2010, at 12:08 AM, a person was robbed while he was standing along the curb in the 500 block of Forest Avenue talking on his cell phone. The suspects, who were in a vehicle, approached the victim and two suspects exited the vehicle and confronted the victim. One suspect who was armed with a handgun demanded the victim's wallet. Before the victim could comply, the suspect hit him over the head and knocked him to the ground. The suspect forcibly removed the victim's wallet, got back into their vehicle and fled the scene.

The victim reported the robbery to the Palo Alto Police and they immediately notified surrounding agencies of the crime and gave a description of the suspects and their vehicle.

A short time later, an East Palo Alto police officer spotted a similar vehicle with similar suspects parked in the driveway of a house in that city. They maintained surveillance of the vehicle and residence, and contacted the Palo Alto Police Department. Palo Alto Police officers responded to the house and, with the assistance of East Palo Alto and Menlo Park Police departments, located one of the two suspects who was a juvenile in the house. The handgun and clothing used in the robbery were recovered at the house as well as the victim’s wallet. The suspect was booked into Juvenile Hall in San Jose.

The Palo Alto Police Department encourages citizens to be aware of their surroundings at all times. If you find yourself the unfortunate victim of a robbery, please cooperate with the suspect’s demands. All property can be replaced. Try and be a good witness and observe suspects for descriptions and direction of travel when they flee the area.
