Armed Robberies in the North End of Palo Alto

Palo Alto, CA -- On Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at 7:50 PM, Palo Alto Police officers responded to the report of an armed robbery in the 900 block of Bryant Street, a few blocks south of downtown. The 36 year-old victim was walking south on Bryant Street when the suspect approached him wielding what appeared to be a handgun. The suspect took the victim's wallet plus a computer bag the victim was carrying. The suspect then fled north bound on Bryant Street. At this time, the victim observed a possible second suspect, described only as a male, who started running away with the initial suspect.

The initial suspect described as a dark skinned male, possibly Hispanic or African-American, in his early 20s, 5’10" tall and weighing around 150 pounds, wearing a white hooded sweat shirt and dark jeans. The victim could not provide any further description of the second suspect. The victim was not injured in this crime.

Later that same evening, at 11:25 PM, a second robbery occurred in the 500 block of Fulton Street, a few blocks east of down town. The 27 year-old victim was approached near his home by the two suspects. They engaged the victim in conversation then one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The victim, fearing for his safety, gave his property to the suspects who fled the area on foot. In this case the suspects took a messenger bag and a wallet from the victim.

The first suspect, who had the gun, was described as an Hispanic male in his late 20s, approximately 5’7” tall and weighing about 170 pounds, with a thick black mustache or goatee and wearing a black hooded sweat shirt . The second suspect was described as an Hispanic male wearing a light gray sweatshirt. The victim was unable to provide any further description of either suspect.

The Palo Alto Police Department encourages citizens to be aware of their surroundings at all times. If you find yourself the unfortunate victim of a robbery, please cooperate with the suspect’s demands. All property can be replaced. Try and be a good witness and observe suspects for descriptions and direction of travel when they flee the area.
