Suspect of Occupied Residential Burgalry Arrested

Palo Alto, CA - On the morning of Friday, October 8, 2010, at 6 AM, Palo Alto officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Hamilton Avenue on the report of a residential burglary that had occurred overnight while the residents slept. The suspect gained entry to the home through an open window and took several personal items and the keys to the family vehicle. The stolen vehicle was later located in Menlo Park.

On October 19, 2010, Palo Alto Police Department Detectives arrested Jose Luis Fernandez, 20 years old, who was identified as the suspect in the burglary. Fernandez was employed on Stanford Campus, please see his attached photo. The arrest occurred without incident thanks to the assistance of the Stanford Department of Public Safety and the Santa Clara County Department of Probation.

Fernandez was booked at the Santa Clara County Main Jail on one count of burglary, one count of the unlawful taking of a vehicle, and a probation hold. Fernandez is currently on felony probation for burglary and the unauthorized use of an access card.
