Palo Alto, CA - On the morning of Friday, October 8, 2010, at 6 AM, the Palo Alto Police Department responded to the report of a residential Burglary that had occurred overnight while the residents slept.

The burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Hamilton Avenue sometime between October 7, 2010, at 10 PM and October 8, 2010 at 6 AM. The suspect(s) gained entry to the home through an open window and took several personal items and the keys to the family's Volkswagen, which was parked on the street in front of the house. The suspect(s) fled the scene in the family vehicle without disturbing the sleeping residents. The vehicle was later located in the 1200 Block of Woodland Avenue in Menlo Park and returned to Palo Alto for evidence collection. At this time, there are no witnesses to this crime and the family could not provide the police with any other information pertaining to the suspects.

Palo Alto Police urge residents to take normal precautions during warm evenings by closing windows, activating installed alarm systems, and assuring that exterior lighting and other deterrents are in good working order.

Anyone with information on a suspect(s) involved in this crime is encouraged to contact the Palo Alto Police Department at 650-329-2413. Anonymous tips can be made by phone to the Palo Alto Police Department's Tip Line at 650-329-2190 or by text message to PaloAlto@TipNow.org at (650) 383-8984 or by email.
