Palo Alto, CA -- A burglar entered a Palo Alto residence early this morning while the residents were at home and asleep upstairs. The burglar fled as the Palo Alto Police Department arrived at the scene, but was arrested nearby a short time later.
At 1:33 AM on September 2, 2010, a resident of the 100 block of Waverley Street called 9-1-1 to report that he heard noises inside his residence. While police were responding, the resident was able to secure his family in an upstairs room. As police arrived, the burglar fled the home and jumped over fences through residential backyards. Police quickly surrounded the area and arrested the suspect a short time later in the 200 block of Bryant Street.
A 22-Year old male, Sergio Fuentas, of East Palo Alto, was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of burglary, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and probation violation. Fuentas was on active San Mateo County probation for burglary at the time of his arrest.
