Palo Alto Fire Department hosts “sidewalk CPR”
Contact : Suzan Minshall, Emergency Manager, Fire Department    650-617-3164
The Palo Alto Fire Department, in conjunction with the American Heart Association, will host "sidewalk CPR" on Tuesday, June 1 from 11 AM to 1 PM on the City Hall Plaza.

In celebration of the American Heart Association's 50th anniversary, several counties in the region are joining in the effort to teach 1 million people how to do “hands only” CPR during CPR week (June 1 through 7).

Hands only CPR is a simplified CPR method recommended by the American Heart Association and can be learned by nearly everyone in 10 minutes.  If an adult suddenly collapses, call 911, then push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives. This easy and effective technique does not involve mouth-to-mouth breathing and simply requires two hands. This action could be all it takes to save a life.

We will have demonstrations, instruction and pocket card giveaways. There will be a raffle for some “CPR Anytime” sets which are perpetual gifts, intended to teach hands only CPR and then be passed on to family, friends and neighbors indefinitely.

Join us on your lunch break and learn how to potentially save a life. There’s no better time than during CPR week to learn.
