Contact : Elizabeth Ames, Senior Engineer, Public Works    650-444-4388
Palo Alto, CA – The City of Palo Alto will gather public input on the remaining California Avenue Streetscape Project improvements on Tuesday, March 16 at Escondido School, at 6:30PM.

The first phase of the street tree replacement on California Avenue was completed in February after a major volunteer planting effort was held on January 30. City staff will discuss the next phase of the project (Phase II), gather input and present concepts at the March 16 meeting.  This phase of the California Avenue Streetscape Project (from El Camino Real to the CalTrain Depot)  includes the replacement of the fountain and addition of street trees at the "plaza" area near the CalTrain Depot; and the replacement of street benches, bicycle racks, news racks, information kiosks and waste receptacles on each side of California Avenue. Additionally, crosswalk improvements; restriping of automobile lanes and parking spaces; and potential reduction of travel lanes from four to two are being considered.  Public input and comments are sought for this phase of the project.
