Palo Alto, CA – The City of Palo Alto invites the Palo Alto community to attend a meeting hosted by the City Council's Ad Hoc Subcommittee on the High Speed Rail (HSR) Project on Tuesday, February 9 at 3:30 PM in the Council Chambers at 250 Hamilton Avenue in Palo Alto.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide very preliminary information to the community on possible alternatives for how the rail infrastructure in Palo Alto could be designed. Additionally, there will be discussion about the process to engage the Palo Alto community. The California High Speed Rail Authority (HSRA) team will release its formal Alternatives Analysis, which will show different grade separations through the Peninsula, on March 4.

The Mayor appointed an Ad Hoc Subcommittee charged with specific approved guidelines to follow and comprised of four Council Members, Larry Klein (Chair) and Pat Burt along with newly-appointed members Nancy Shepherd and Gail Price. The committee has regularly scheduled meetings involving the community in an effort to bring the High Speed Rail into Palo Alto with minimal impacts on the infrastructure and community.

The Ad Hoc Subcommittee deals directly with the High Speed Rail Authority (HSRA) http://www.cahighspeedrail.ca.gov/ and works closely with the Peninsula Cities Consortium (PCC) http://www.peninsularail.com/ to develop public outreach and education efforts and to explore urban design solutions that consider community values for the high speed train project.
