Street Construction to Begin on San Antonio Road
Contact : Elizabeth Ames, Senior Engineer, Public Works    650-444-4388
Palo Alto, CA – Drivers should expect some delays during the construction hours of 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. due to the start of the San Antonio Road street resurfacing project this Tuesday, December 8, weather permitting. The project is expected to last into January, dependent on weather. In order to minimize traffic disruptions at least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction of San Antonio Road at all times.

This project utilizes stimulus funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to repave San Antonio Road and the frontage road from Alma Street to Middlefield Road. This street work follows the planting and concrete project that was completed earlier this year. The road preparation work will begin this week and be followed by the resurfacing of the roadway with new asphalt concrete.

The project scope includes the following elements:
  • Milling of sections of the existing asphalt roadway.
  • Repaving the roadway with new asphalt concrete.
  • Raising manholes and utility valves to the grade of the new street
  • Installing new pavement striping.
  • Upgrading curb ramps to meet current accessibility standards.
